See a working lighthouse - or marvel at electric eels.

Mazatlan was founded in 1531 by an army of Spaniards and Indian settlers. And the word itself means "place of deer". But today it's a place to have a very good time. Mazatlan is a short 30-45 minute ride from Estrella del Mar via a shuttle to our Golden Zone Office in the heart of the city. Even though Wyndham Las Villas Resort Mazatlan has a wide assortment of thing to entertain you, we do hope you will take time to explore the local Mazatlan area. History lovers will want to visit our interesting archaeological museum where you can see important artifacts from the region's rich history. Then take a noonday stroll through one of our lovely plazas or along the Malecon - at 13 miles, it's the longest boardwalk in all of Mexico. A fun and invigorating option is to hike up to the peak that's home to the El Faro Lighthouse, it's one of the highest in the world. The top offers stunning 360º views of the Pacific and mainland. For kids of all ages, take time to check out Mexico's largest aquarium where you can see colorful fish, eels and enjoy a sea lion show. For some fun on the high seas stop by the Mazatlan Marina where you can book deep sea fishing charters that are sure to be unforgettable. No matter how you choose to spend your time, we hope you will come back and be our guest again, and again.
