One visit and you'll definitely see why Wyndham Garden Paramaribo sets the standard in business and leisure travel.

BE AMAZED by the tallest modern structure at present in the heart of the Historic Inner City of Paramaribo. The Wyndham Garden stands out amidst the landscape of colonial buildings that has made the place a Unesco World Heritage Site. An architectural first in the city, the tall atrium gives the guest the "garden" feeling as he or she steps into the sprawling lobby spruced with palm trees and tropical flowers under a glass-covered canopy that encloses the refreshing sound of the man-made waterfall cascading from the ceiling to the floor. A panoramic elevator takes our guests to the comfort of their rooms and to the areas where they can relax and keep themselves fit even as they pamper themselves with the exquisite gastronomic delights from the specialty restaurant.

From the second you enter our sun-soaked lobby, decorated in tropical colors, you'll know your stay will be an unforgettable experience. Overlooking the center of one of the most vibrant cities in the Northern Coast of South America, the hotel offers a magnificent top view of Paramaribo, the famous Suriname River and its surroundings. It's definitely the most beautiful view you can get in Paramaribo. Best of all, being in the center of town, the hotel is close to the government offices, business establishments, shopping district and entertainment options.

There is so much that the Wyndham Garden Paramaribo offers to fill the day of our guests. After a hearty buffet breakfast at the Ixora Restaurant on the ground floor, our guests can spend hours shopping for exclusive articles in the shops surrounding the lobby area. Stepping into the Business Center which is open 24 hours, one can finalize a presentation, check emails or print some materials. With the bright sun overhead, one can relax on the chaise lounge, take a dip into the pool or spend minutes in the whirlpool while enjoying one of the sparkling cocktails from the Orchids Bar. Returning from a tour of the city, the sushi bar or an afternoon tea awaits the guest on the ground floor. If it is to unwind or to burn down a few calories that the guest desires, a work out at the Fitness Center or massage treatments will just be what the body needs. Dinner at the Orchids Restaurant will be a fitting close to an exciting day before one heads to the guest room where the comfortable beds will provide a good night rest.

For health and safety reasons pets are not allowed in the guestrooms . However, service animals accompanying persons with physical difficulties are always welcome at the Wyndham Garden Paramaribo. However we do have a nearby dog kennel.

A Trip Back in Time and Year-round Revelry

Some forty-five minutes is all that it takes to be in the heart of the city of Paramaribo from the Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport. A visit to Paramaribo is going back in time as one takes a stroll along the streets lined by age-old and historic buildings reminiscent of the bygone Dutch colonial era. Within the historic center of Paramaribo, preserved as a UNESCO Heritage Site are centuries-old historic buildings or old plantation houses that are now offices of different government ministries or foreign embassies, the Presidential Palace, the Fort Zeelandia that houses a museum of the history of Paramaribo, the finance building with a Tower, the world's largest wooden cathedral and various monuments commemorating the arrival to the country of peoples from various countries who are the ancestors of present-day Surinamese. Explore Suriname further afield on a riverboat Historical Plantation Tour, and take a trip back in time to the colonial days.

From Dec-Jan, the principal thoroughfares of the city come alive when musicians, artists and street jugglers take to the streets to celebrate Surifesta. February to March is Carnival season, Paramaribo style, with revelers in colorful costumes and allegorical floats in street procession to the beat of the marching bands. July commemorates the end of slavery on Emancipation Day when natives show their proud tradition in a colorful parade and fair. When the nights get longer and colder- by the new moon of the months of October/November Kartik is celebrated by the Hindus. Tradionally it's known as the Festival of Lights. The Central Market - the largest in the Caribbean, is an ideal place to watch bartering in full swing amid piles of fruits, sacks of yucca and pots of brightly colored spices.

Paramaribo's exciting ethnic fusion is mirrored in its culinary heritage, with Dutch, Indonesian, Indian and Chinese gastronomic touches evident on menus throughout the city. Savour freshly-baked Surinamese breads at Roti Shop Joosje, local curry dishes at Mix Food and delicious cooked-to-order Chinese noodles at Chi Min. Art and food go hand-in-hand at Zus & Zo Café. Paramaribo's nightlife zone Uitgaanscentrum - literally means "the going-out centre"; a block of hotels, bars and restaurants where the city's night owls flock. Just 10 minutes walking or 2 minutes driving. Nightlife is varied: Starzz is a popular Euro-beat club, while there's all-night salsa on the menu at the Havana Lounge. Sidewalk Cafe 'T VAT attracts a relaxed crowd and is the place to be during festivals and carnival season. Don't forget the famous Club Touché and more than ten casinos at walking distance from the hotel.
