Not to be missed is a chance to see a performance Old Globe Theater Complex. This park was built to commemorate the first European to set foot on what is now the West Coast of the United States. There are a wealth of cultural and natural resources here, and take time to tour the Old Point Loma Lighthouse. Twenty-one blocks of sidewalk cafés and open-air restaurants, jazz clubs, late-night dancing, resident artists and microbreweries. "The Historic Heart of San Diego," as it is known, is just a short walk from the Convention Center in downtown. Choose from guided walking tours or self-guided museum tours. Fine dining restaurants perched atop La Jolla's jagged cliffs. Boutique-lined streets offer a chance to shop for art, gifts and so much more. Enjoy soft sand beaches and watercolor sunsets. Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego Here more than 21,000 recruits are trained each year. MCRD is also the home to Marine Corps' Recruiter School and Western Recruiting Region's Drill Instructor School. This is where Marines are made. Created in 1997, it's actually a consortium of eight Navy installations, stretching from San Clemente Island to Camp Michael Monsoor at La Posta. Enjoy shows staring Shamu or the hilarious sea lions and otters. Then join Elmo at the Sesame Street Bay of Play, featuring family-friendly rides. Feed dolphins and get up-close to beluga whales, polar bears, sharks and penguins. Don't miss seeing aquariums and exotic birds from around the world. It's home to over 4,000 animals of over 800 different species. Here you'll find all your favorites, including the hands-on Children's Zoo, the Polar Bear Plunge, Tiger River and the creepy Reptile Mesa. Be sure not to miss the giant pandas and the Rainforest Aviary, a huge bird-filled Asian jungle with waterfalls and lush tropical foliage. With over 2,000 acres of park areas to explore, the San Diego Safari Park offers a more natural setting to view the animals, birds and fish than the conventional cages of a zoo. Take the hour-long train ride and see giraffes and wild horses or stop at the petting zoo to allow the kids to pet and feed gentle deer and goats. The bird show is not to be missed and don't forget to pay special attention to the carefully labeled landscape plantings. Located just across the street from our property, it's the place to see Cirque du Soleil, concerts, Disney on Ice, and so much more. Sports & Amusements Drive less than three hours and visit another great California attraction: Disneyland Resort. It's called the happiest place on earth, and we could not agree maore. Classic attractions and shows like Pirates of the Caribbean and the fiery Fantasmic! have been joined by new favorites, such as the hair-raising Indiana Jones Adventure and the wildly fun Tarzan's Treehouse. This seaside thoroughbred racetrack is the place to see the sport of kings. Notable races include: Pacific Classic, Eddie Read Stakes, Del Mar Oaks, and the John C. Mabee Stakes. A 128-acre park that is home 5,000 Lego models made up of more than 30 million Lego bricks. It also features more than 40 interactive exhibits, attractions, family rides and shows. Although Legoland's broadest appeal is to kids 12 and under, anyone who is young at heart will enjoy this unique theme park. It's the place to see the one and only San Diego Padres do what they do best, go for the pennant. This is the home of the world-class San Diego Chargers and where you'll have a chance to watch them battle it out on the gridiron. |
