It's lush and brimming with wildlife. One wonderful way to end the day is a romantic sunset cruise around Fajardo Bay. A second option is to kayak in one of our two bioluminescent bays. These bays sparkle at night, thanks to microscopic plankton that light up – think of them as underwater fireflies. You just have to see it to believe it. Points of Interest Bacardi Distillery Rum Factory Tour Your journey begins by being transported through time to Santiago Cuba at Casa Bacardi, where it all started. Visitors will enjoy an interactive tour through history, observe the production process and experience the party spirit of the Bacardi brand. Castillo de San Cristóbal is the largest fortification built by the Spanish in the New World. When it was finished in 1783, it covered about 27 acres of land, basically wrapping the city of San Juan. Entry to the city was sealed by San Cristóbal's double gates. Today it's a wonderful historic site to explore. This sixteenth-century citadel lies on the northwestern-most point of the islet of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Named in honor of King Philip II of Spain, the fort, also referred to as "El Morro" or "promontory," was designed to guard the entrance to San Juan Bay and defend the city of San Juan from seaborne enemies. Located about 19 miles east of Puerto Rico and 8 miles north of Vieques, it's the smallest of the inhabited Spanish Puerto Rico. The island is 7 miles long and 3 miles wide. Culebra is an island municipality under the domain of Puerto Rico, which has been under the protection of the United States since its annexation from Spain in 1898.
