“No A/C in the OC”

The air conditioning was broken when I checked into my very hot room. I called the front desk and was told that I probably didn't know how to use the controls. Hours later, after several more calls to the front desk someone was sent up to "fix" it. His fix resulted in cool air coming out for approximately 5 minutes before it was replaced, once again, by very warm air. I'd have to turn the unit off for a few minutes and then back on to get another 5 minute reprieve. I alerted the front desk of this continuing problem every morning before I left for the day. Everyday, I came back to a hotbox, so hot, I felt ill and could hardly sleep. I requested another room but was told because of renovations there wasn't another room available for any night of the rest of the week.I've stayed in other hotels that were changing ownership and performing renovations, but have never been told I'd have to accept a room that was missing its most basic components. Generally, a hotel tries to make you as comfortable as possible during the inconvenience of a renovation, not knowingly immerse you in it.Finally, the morning before I checked out, I was able to get the front desk attendant (who I'd been talking to all week) to find me a manager. When I got back to my room that evening, my room was cool for the first time. For a five night stay, I had one night that wasn't miserable. I find this to be completely unacceptable. I've been staying at this hotel for years (as a Crowne Plaza) without problem. If this is an example of how a Wyndham Group runs their hotels, I'll make sure to avoid them in the future.
