“Weekend getaway”

Overall, the experience at this hotel was nice for the price and location. Didn't really interact with the staff other than the check in process, which was average. Navigating the front part of the hotel was confusing as there isn't a true parking lot or anything for you to park in to hop out & check in. You just sort of pull up where there's space & leave your car which makes it crowded & slow. Overall, pretty stupid, but I guess they want it to be uncomfortable for you so you pay to valet your car. Not me. The room was sort of small but it had a balcony overlooking San Diego Bay which was great. $24/day to park was outrageous in my opinion but hey, it's downtown San Diego...the land of "you pay to park wherever the hell you are." Our first night there was sand (or some other sort of grit...thinking it was sand makes me feel cleaner) in the bed that we had to dust out ourselves. Told housekeeping about it the next day and the second night...no sand. Also, the room was one side of adjoining rooms & our neighbors exuberant love making noises came through loud & clear through the very thin door. That's not necessarily a negative in my book b/c I say get it on as loud as you like when the mood hits you, but for some folks I could see this being a negative. It's downtown San Diego, overlooking the bay, close enough to walk to the Gaslamp quarter...for the price in this location, this hotel was acceptable...I would return.
