“Weekend getaway”

Basically, our two-night experience was very nice. There were, however, a few "little" things that could have been nicer. Upon check-in, we were given our door key packet but didn't discover until we were at the door that we each had two plastic "keys." Had no idea what the blue key was for (until much later when we thought to use it for entry to the hotel after sundown.) When we entered our room, someone was still in it. She said she had arranged with the front desk to stay there until 1 p.m. (it was 12:50 p.m.). So, since she was on a business call, we had to wait until shortly after 1 p.m. in order to enter the room. Eventually, we discovered that there was no phone note pad in the room when we had the occasion to record some information. Also, that evening, I discovered the HBO movie guide... but it was the February guide and this day was March 21st!!! We ordered room service breakfast for 9 a.m. but it arrived at 9:25 a.m. We were told that the delivery was late because there were seven orders for 9 a.m. Both nights when I tried to order the next morning's room service breakfast, no one answered the phone despite it being within room service hours. Even with the help of the hotel operator the call went unanswered that first night. As it turned out, the same man answered (eventually) both nights, leading me to wonder if room service is simply understaffed to the point it cannot answer phone calls. The food, however, was good. One morning tray, however, did not include sugar or sugar substitues which meant I drank bitter coffee. Of course, there is nothing you can do about it, but it would be nicer if the San Diego airport was quiet longer than 6:30 a.m. when literally 20 or so planes lined up to take off -- no need for an alarm clock after that!
