Arts & Cultural

Banpo Museum
Discovered in the mid-twentieth century, the Banpo (half slope) Village marks a typical Neolithic Matriarchal community of the Yangshao culture, dating back 6,000 years, and at 50,000-square-meters (538,196-square-feet) is the largest in China. The thousands of relics and artifacts offer vivid insight into the lifestyle of the ancient Banpo people.

Xi'an Beilin Museum
Also known as The Stele Forest, this incredible museum - built in 1087 - houses over 3,000 stone steles, the largest and earliest cultural relics in all of China, many of which date back to the Han and Qing Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD).

Bell Tower
Built in 1384 during the Ming Dynasty in the geographical center of the ancient capital, the Bell Tower is a symbol of the city of Xi'an, and at 40 meters high, one of the largest, grandest and best-preserved towers of its kind of China. It also contains several large bronze-cast bells from the Tang Dynasty, and covers an area of 1,377-square-meters (14,822-square-feet).

Dayan Pagoda
Dayan Pagoda is a well-preserved Buddhist holy place that was constructed in the year 652 during the Tang Dynasty for the purposes of collecting Buddhist sutras and figures that were brought to China from India by the Buddhist translator and traveler Xuanzang. It stands at 64 meters (210 feet) tall and offers incredible views of Xian City from the top of the pagoda.

Drum Tower
Located northwest of the Bell Tower across the Bell and Drum Tower Square, the Drum Tower is the "sister building" of the Bell Tower, and was constructed in 1380 during the Ming Dynasty, with architectural features that combine styles of both Tang and Qing Dynasties.

Famen Temple
Renowned for storing the finger bone of the Sakyamuni Buddha, the widely-regarded "ancestor of pagoda temples in Guanzhong area" is located 120 kilometers from the Wyndham Grand Xian South hotel and boasts a history dating back over 1,700 years, a grand architectural style and one of four components of the incredibly inspiring Famen Temple Cultural Scenic Area.

Hua Qing Chi
Characterized by mild weather, scenic views and famed for its romantic love story between the Tang Dynasty's Emperor Xuanzong and his consort, the Huaging Hot Springs (also called Huaging Pool) are located at the northern foot of Mount Lishan, just 30 kilometers from Xian City and the Wyndham Grand Xian South hotel. Renowned for its 3,000-year history, naturally occurring geothermal heating, incredible flora and fauna, and health benefits, the hot springs are definitely worth a visit.

Mount Hua
Also known as Hua Shan or Xiyue, this mountain is located approximately 120 kilometers from the Wyndham Grand Xian South hotel near the city of Huayin in Shaanxi province and is one of China's Five Great Mountains, with a long history of religious significance. It is famous for its awe-inspiring beauty, its five peaks, and its rich history of being a holy land of Taoism.

Mount Li
Rising to a height of 1,302 meters (4,272 feet) above sea level, Mount Li - also known as Mount Lishan - is part of the Qinling mountain range, one of eight scenic spots of the Guanzhong Plain, and popularly said to "shine like a beacon in the evening sunlight" because of its breathtaking sunsets.

The Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses
Located just 45 kilometers from the Wyndham Grand Xian South hotel, the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses are the most significant archaeological excavations in all of China and some argue, the world, with artifacts that date back to 211 BC, and over 7,000 pottery soldiers, horses, chariots, and weapons have been unearthed from these pits, with most of them having been restored to their former glory. This site is a definite must-see while in the area and in China!

The Great Mosque of Xi'an
Founded in 742, the Xi'an Great Mosque is the oldest and most renowned mosque in China, and unlike most mosques in middle Eastern or Arab countries, the Great Mosque of Xi'an is unique in that it has neither domes nor traditional-style minarets and with the exception of some Arabic lettering and decorations is completely Chinese in its construction and architectural style.

Tang Paradise
Purported to be the largest cultural theme park in northwest China and located near the Dayan Pagoda, Tang Paradise is the first royal garden-like park to offer a peek into the Tang Dynasty's culture, with twelve different cultural and multi-dimensional themes, that include marketplaces, dance, food, science, poetry and so much more.

Xi'an Qujiang International Convention and Exhibition Center
