“Nothing but problems”

So, at first sight I was impressed with the room for the price. It was clean, it was a good size for 3 people, and had a kitchenette and everything. Unfortunately, things went downhill pretty fast. I received an alert from my bank on the 2nd day that I had a negative balance in my account, and after investigating found that the hotel had charged the full 3 nights on my debit account. When I had called months earlier to make the reservation, I was assured I could choose any form of payment I wanted at check-out. I authorized nothing, signed nothing, and was told nothing. I must note that I was in Chicago celebrating my 30th birthday with my friends. Needless to say, this issue put quite a damper on things and was not resolved. After speaking to several people at the front desk, I was assured if my friend paid the full amount, the charge on my account would be released. This didn't happen for another 3 days, and only with the help of the only helpful person on staff, Darren, and the assistance of my bank, did this finally get resolved. I was not able to use my checking account the entire weekend. Also, housekeeping decided to skip our room one day and we had no towels or toilet paper and had to call twice to receive, and no one could ever tell us why housekeeping did not come that day. The whole hotel is a disaster. the front desk agents are clueless and careless. Finally I was able to get help from one of the managers, and he did end up going out of his way to be helpful, but at a huge cost to me and what I had to go through with this hotel. I don't know how often this happens, but my advice after going through all of that is don't take your chances.
