“Dirty Rooms/Unsatisfactory Amenities”

  , Macon
Upon arrival at the Wyndham resort, we had about 45 minutes to eat, change our clothes, etc, before checking in for our conference. The man at the front desk - Fabio - told us our room was not ready. I asked if there was any way to get into a room early because the conference was beginning within an hour. He found a room - in building 4 - and we were able to place our belongings in the room before heading to the conference at 1 - we greatly appreciated this courtesy, However, the next morning we awoke to prepare for the day and discovered we had no hot water. Upon calling the operator, we were told they were aware of the situation and someone would be out to fix it "maybe in an hour." This was unacceptable as we were on a tight schedule for the Student Loan Conference. We found out later that the hotel was already aware that Building 4 had no hot water when they placed us in the room - a disappointing show of customer service. As we attempted to leave our room for the day, our door would not shut because the door plate was damaged. We had to pack all of our things and bring everything back to our car because we did not feel comfortable leaving our belongings in an unlocked room. We asked the front desk for a new room based on these circumstances and we were moved to Building 3 - we were not offered an apology or an explanation of the problems we had faced. Upon arriving in our new room, we were overcome with filth. There was hair scattered around the bathroom, mold on the shower curtain, and dirt on the floor. Our internet - the free Ethernet provided to our conference group - did not work. We had to go to the main lobby and sit for hours to do our work. In order to avoid the frustration of moving a second time, we opted to stay the night, but leave one night early. Aside from all of these inconveniences, I would like to point out an individual working at the front desk named Mike. Not only was he extremely understanding about our situation, he was also accommodating and apologetic. His service was outstanding and will not be reflected in my overall rating of the hotel staff below. Also - I would like to point out that despite the terrible rooms, the food served at the conference was a wonderful silver lining. The food was truly delicious.
