“Family Visit in Glenview”

Upon arrival at the hotel on October 22, 2012: " We were assigned Rooms 215 & 216. " The door to 216 was ajar, held open by the security bar on the door. There was a bowl with food trash on the floor just outside the door. " Most of the lights in the room were turned on. " The microwave oven door was open and the turntable and the plate for the microwave were sitting on the counter. " The carpet had not been vacuumed nor was the floor in the bathroom cleaned. " The closet door was open. We learned that it is need of repair. " The phone on the desk was not working. " There was a hand towel and wash cloth folded in a nice pattern, like a flower, sitting on the bathroom counter. It was filthy dirty! " We called the front desk to ask for someone to come up to the room and complained about the condition of the room. He made the phone work and put the microwave back together. He had no explanation about the condition of the room, nor did he offer a solution, such as ask to change rooms. The first day of our stay: " There was no explanation about the food service other than room service, so we called the front desk to get an understanding of what was available. This was not explained to us when we checked in. " When we arrived back in our room in the evening, we found out that the room was not cleaned. We had not read anything in the literature about no room service. By now, there was only one tissue in the bathroom. " The light in the microwave was on all night, and all day, with the door closed. The second day of our stay: " As we left the hotel on Wednesday, we spoke to someone in a business suit, who we believed was a manager. We asked about room service, and we were assured that rooms are cleaned daily, and he would be sure that the rooms would be cleaned. " When we arrived back to our rooms at 3:00 PM, we learned that our rooms were exactly as we left them and had not been cleaned. We called the front desk and asked to speak to the duty manager. By the time we left the room at 3:30 PM, the housekeepers were in the room, starting to clean. They did a good job, except for thoroughly vacuuming the floor and cleaning the floor in the bathroom. There was an orange bead on the floor that never got picked up, and there were two pieces of paper on the bathroom floor that were not even moved. We chose not to move to a different hotel because we had our son and his family staying in the room next door, and that would be too disruptive to ask them to move. Their room was also not cleaned either of the first two days. We expected to receive the same quality of service that we have received at the Wyndham Hotel in our home town of San Jose, CA, and were disappointed when we did not. We presented this document the day before we left the hotel, attached to the comment card that was in our room. Nobody tried to contact us to discuss our concerns, nor offer any compensation for our inconveniences.
