“Not Worth the Money”

  , Piedmont
I'll begin with the booking process. Upon booking our room (I spoke with a man whom I could barely understand from a 1-888 number. He didn't even know what time check in/check out was and told me the wrong times), we were under the impression that we'd have a gulf view. Boy, were we wrong! Once we finally reached the hotel (a 15-20 minute drive from Panama City Beach), we checked in via the pristine lobby. Here, we were very impressed. A very friendly clerk told us all about the hotel and gave us lots of great info. When I asked about the boardwalk to the private beach, it was closed for construction.NOTE: The reason we booked this hotel is because it had a beach view! So, we get to our room, which was a short drive from the lobby of the hotel (and all of the amenities: indoor and outdoor pool, breakfast, spa, fitness center). We did NOT have a gulf view, but a GOLF view! Our "pet-friendly" room had an aread of probably 3 sq. feet to walk our dogs. The rest of the greenery around our room was a very busy golf course. We were honestly ready to leave our room and go stay at a bargain motel at this point, but we'd have lost our money. Some details about the room: Upon entry, it smelled like marijuana. My husband says it's monkey grass, but there was NO monkey grass around.Drain in the bath tub was brokenRan out of hot water after less than 15 minutesBed was very hardCheap patio furniture was very wornPatio was unswept You can hear everything from your neighbors... and I mean, EVERYTHING!Air conditioner only works if you knock it down to 60 and heat NEVER comes on. We turned the unit off and left the doors open. No fitted sheet on the bed, just a regular sheet that came off multiple times through the nightNo blow dryerONE of the outlets in the entire room worked! Internet was free, but wiredRoom service was absurdly expensive and had very few items to choose fromWe had plenty of towels though. Check out was easy.Overall, I would rate this stay a 3 out of 10! For a resort, it was AWFUL.
