“Poor Service, Everything Broken”

  , Ithaca
Let me start by saying that everyone I encountered at the Wyndham was friendly. Unfortunately for Wyndham, I can find friendly people at every other hotel in America- hotels that also have toilet seats that don't need to be held up while I pee.Every aspect of my Wyndham experience was lacking:-They charge guests for their airport shuttle more than the cost of a taxi.-I am allergic to feathers. When booking my reservation online, I requested a non-feather bedspread. When I got to my room at 1:30am, I found a feather pillow on the bed. Too tired to deal with it, I took a couple Bendryl and went to sleep.-I had early morning meetings and requested room service breakfast at 6:30am- the earliest breakfast delivery time. The first morning, my food hadn't showed up by 6:45, so I went downstairs to quickly eat the continental breakfast. The same thing happened the second day. When I mentioned this to reception, they told me the breakfast request doortags aren't picked up until after 6:30.-I was at the hotel for a conference, and was supposed to get free breakfast vouchers. I gave up trying to get these after the second request.-The in-room coffee machine leaked like a sieve, leaking a huge puddle on the counter.-The toilet seat wouldn't stand up on its own, forcing me to hunch over while peeing to hold the seat up.-One of the elevators was apparently half-functional, as half of the buttons were covered with duct tape. An electrical panel was missing and wires were dangling from the panel.-The alarm clock time was incorrect and its buttons were broken, making it impossible to correct the time.-The internet was DREADFULLY slow. In fact, it just didn't work half the time. One evening I really had to get work done online, so I just stayed at the nearby Oakton Community College conference room because it had reliable internet.-My room overlooked the dumpster and mattress disposal area. I can only think of one reason why three mattresses would be thrown out at a hotel. Thankfully my room didn't have any bugs.-The tea bags are hidden at the continental breakfast. You have to specially request the wooden box that's held together with packing tape.I'm not a picky person by any means. I happily sleep outside on the ground and poop in holes for days at a time while backpacking. When I pay to stay in a hotel for business, I don't want to have to deal with broken things. I just want things to work.
