“disappointing”

  , Raleigh
I checked in a little before 11pm on the 16th of April. When I got to my room and found that it had a connecting door to another room I called down to the front desk to request to move to a room without a connecting door. the first gentleman I spoke with was very nice and explained that there were no other king rooms available with a connecting door but he did have one with 2 double beds. Or he said I could wait until the next day and then change to a king with a non connecting door. After an almost 4hour late evening trip I decided to just stay put and deal with the connecting door. I had to work early the next morning and would be gone all day and if I was going to change rooms I wanted to do it before I got settled in. I am a single woman traveling alone. Because of my own insecurity I decided to move the end table in front of the connecting door just to give me piece of mind and a little bit more security. When I moved the end table, there was an empty condom box and some sort of pill wrapper on the floor. I immediately called back down to the front desk and told them I would go ahead and move to the room with 2 double beds. By now it was a few minutes past 11pm. The gentleman that I spoke too first told me that he didn't even know which rooms had connecting doors. I questioned him on this and told him I found it hard to believe that the computer or some sort of floor plan did not show him which rooms have connecting doors. Usually they are the same rooms on every floor. I have actually stayed at this location years ago when it was a Ramada Inn. He told me that if I wanted to wait until midnight when security guard came in that he would go and find me a room without a connecting door. Again I had traveled all evening and had to be up early I was not going to wait almost another hour until midnight. I told him about the items I found under the end table and that I wanted to move to any other room and would just have to take my chances hoping that it would not have a connecting door, at this point I was more disgusted by the condoms and cleanliness than the connecting door. He told me that I had to have a really good reason to want to change rooms and that I still had to wait for security to move me in case I had used the bathroom in the room. I was very offended by this statement . I told him my really good reasons were that I was a single woman traveling alone and the items I found did not make me feel comfortable in the room.
