“MGH patient family”

  , Boston
I would not recommend staying at this hotel even though it is whithin walking distance to MGH. My father was taken by ambulance from a hospital in Western MA to MGH. My family lives in Western MA with no family in the Boston area to stay with during his hospital stay 10 days and counting. We made a reservation on line the evening of my fathers transfer. The rate was a "reduced rate" of $190/night. When we checked in to the hotel that evening around 11:00 p.m. we clearly stated that my father was just transfered to MGH and we would be staying until he was discharged. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and ate dinner in the bar each night. On the 3rd evening I received a call in the room around 11 p.m. from the evening manager saying they needed a credit card. I brought the card down and requested to extent the stay for at least 2 more evenings. The individual stated that the rate had gone up, but that he would "continue the previous rate because we had a family member in MGH". The next day my sister was talking with my dad's case manager who asked where we were staying when she was told the Wyndham she said that was good because MGH had a $95/night rate for family members with patients in MGH. When my sister informed the manager of what she learned she stated that the rate needed to be "requested in advance". My sister asked how we could have requested that rate when the tranfer of my father was an emergency transfer. The manager became aggressive and unprofessional. She would not credit our account for the previous nights at the $95 MGH rate. She stayed one more evening and then checked into a Marriott hotel without issue. If you want to be treated with dishonesty and unprofessionalism stay at the Wyndham Hotel on Blossom St. in Boston. If not choose another hotel.
