“Nice Hotel, Great Location, Poor Communication”

  , Knoxville
We stayed here last weekend while in town for my brother's wedding. We requested an adjoining room when booking (in January) due to bringing our nannies with us. Upon checking in, they only had one room for us and because of the Final Four being in town, we were told that they would "do their best" to accommodate us. Their solution was to give us one room no the 6th floor and one room on the 8th floor. This would not work for us because we needed our nannies to have direct access to our room because of all of the events and appointments my husband and I had because we were in the wedding. We arrived around 4:10 pm on Friday and were slightly rushed because we had to be at the rehearsal at 5pm. The woman at check-in kept telling me that she was going to see what she could do but that they were at full capacity. I had my confirmation numbers (for both rooms!) but that did not do anything. After about 30 minutes of her looking around in her computer, she called up the front end manager who basically told me the same thing. At this point I was really freaking out because I had 2 young kids, 2 teenagers, and my husband and I to all find a place to sleep in a city that was at full capacity. Plus I was already late and still needed to get ready. After another 10-15 minutes, the FE manager said that he was going to move someone else's reservation so that we could have adjoining rooms. So he gave us the keys to the first room and then asked if he could deliver the keys to the second room because he needed to "make sure it was ready" I didn't have time to mess with it so we ran up to the room to change and head out. We did finally (at about 10pm) get access to the second room which was adjoining to our room and right next door to my sister and her family. I am, however, extremely frustrated that no apologies were made for overlooking the request for adjoining rooms or for making us wait for an hour to get one of two rooms that we had booked and had confirmation numbers for. I recommend that if you have special requests, that you also call the hotel directly and follow up with them prior to your arrival. The rooms are very large and clean. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms, while slightly outdated were adequate. I would stay here again. I will be sending a letter to the company regarding our reservations and hope that someone will attempt to make it right.
