“Overpriced, bad odor”

  , Buffalo, New York
The worst thing was the stench on the first floor at the end of the building where the sports bar is located. Unfortunately my room was in this wing so I had to walk through the nauseating aroma of sour milk + hockey locker room multiple times a day. I had previously stayed at this hotel when it was a Destination property. The room rate was usually aroung $125/night which included a very nice breakfast buffet. Wyndham now runs the hotel and I won't stay there again. My company rate was unavailable for the 2 nights I booked so I was forced to take the Amex rate of $224/night (and no breakfast). I was forced to stay an extra night when a major snow storm canceled my flight home. The hotel was pretty deserted because many guests left in advance of the storm and many others were unable to arrive due to the weather. Knowing there were many rooms available I asked for my company's rate for the extra night and was declined. I consider this price gauging. I think the room price was way too high for a place that hasn't seen renovations in quite some time. Further, the hotel's restaurant used to offer the choice of their buffet or you could order from their menu. Wyndham has eliminated the menu option and the buffet is terribly expensive - $38 for dinner and I didn't exactly see surf and turf. For what I would eat, room service prices were less expensive. Being short-staffed due to the storm, they closed the less expensive sports bar/restaurant and stopped room service, leaving guests only the pricey buffet option. I will not be staying at this hotel again. Wyndham's pricing is way out of line for this caliber of accommodations and service.
