“Clean, comfortable and convenient”

We chose Wyndham Garden Chinatown hotel after researching on Tripadvisor and Expedia. Both agreed that it was an excellent hotel, and that was our experience too. First, the location. We originally wanted somewhere uptown, but decided to give Chinatown/Lower East Side a try. This turned out to be a good choice, as there are excellent subway connections in the area to all parts of Manhattan and beyond, the trains were quick and efficient. It is also in easy walking distance of SoHo, Manhattan Bridge, Little Italy, East Village, etc. It is located on a main road (Bowery) but we didn't find it to be particularly noisy. From our room we could barely hear the traffic below at all. From our room on the ninth floor we had a view northwards to the Empire State Building - a stunning view at any time of day. The room was smallish, but plenty big enough; comfortable, clean and attractive, with artwork maintaining the Chinese style. Sneaking a ride on the lift to the 19th floor revealed a rooftop terrace, with even more stunning views of the area, including southwards to the financial quarter, and south-east to Manhattan Bridge. I believe this terrace it to be turned into a rooftop bar of some sort, which would be fantastic. There's a bar on the ground floor which we used on the first day, and a diner on one of the lower floors which we used for some snacks on our last day. There's also a gym which we didn't get round to using. The staff were all extremely helpful, knowledgable and friendly. They seem to have everything under control, and never seemed too stressed or busy to help or provide information.Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who, like us, wanted to get to know New York. If/when we return to New York, we would certainly consider staying there again.
