“Not Enough Shower Curtains or Clean Rooms”

I had an overnight stay at the Wyndham in Cleveland and was disappointed with my stay. I had assumed that such a large corporate hotel would be a well-oiled machine, but many things slipped through the cracks. I arrived late, and with only about an hour before I had to present at the conference being held at the hotel. I was pleased that check in and valet was so smooth, but when I got up to the room, it was clear that it had not been cleaned at all since the last guest - dirty towels on the bathroom floor, bed sheets and pillows scattered everywhere, etc. My call to the front desk to me moved was not met with urgency or concern. Thankfully, the situation was corrected within about 15 minutes and I was given a room two doors down. But that was a precious 15 minutes before my panel and I got the feeling from the staff that they did not care. This apathy was reinforced later that evening when I was finally back in my room and realized that the bathroom had no shower curtain! I called to the front desk immediately and was told "Well, I'll see if we have one - we are booked for the night." I would hope that a hotel would have enough shower curtains for their room. They did find one, and a maintenance man (who clearly did not have 'install shower curtain' as part of his job duties - he had to go to another room to see how it was put up before putting up the one in my room) came to put it up, since housekeeping was no where to be found. While I understand little mistakes when caring for hotel guests, these mistakes left me wondering what else might have been overlooked? Were there other potentially unsanitary things that I simply had not noticed? Were the sheets clean/replaced since the last guest? The counter cleaned? The attitude of the staff, with their lack of concern throughout my stay, left me wondering and feeling not very cared for. I will think twice before booking at a Wyndham next time.
