“Superb location, natural beauty combined with terrible almost rude service”

Where do I start? How about the good stuff first. This hotel is in a gorgeous area of a beautiful country with a friendly inviting culture. We've stayed here for 3 years and something has gone completely wrong in the last 12 months. The service was just bad. Getting simple things done like a fax or even reasonable room service is impossible. We stayed a week and only got towels after asking several times and even then very late. The toilet was left by the maid dysfunctional and not reported (I fixed it myself as the chain inside the tank kept coming off). The hot water in ALL the rooms in our building was opposite of the indicator. Hot is cold and cold is hot! If you use it at night sometimes it takes 5-10 minutes to get warm! We never experienced anything like this before! The service was just unconcerned and/or rude. We actually were so impressed with our previous stays we invited several friends to stay so we had 3 other couples with us. All had the same experience as we did. The restaurant was not open for lunch so we were told to go to the swimming pool bar. At the pool there was only one server/bar tender and he was at LUNCH! There's a LOT more so I'll just say Wyndham what in the world are you thinking???? The people I feel sorry for are the few that have been there several years that were superbly trained by the previous owner (Sheraton). These folks are still providing great service but I'm sure they're not appreciated.We travel extensively and don't blast a hotel unless it really deserves it. In fact 90% of my reviews are good or better. It's just a shame to see this happen. This area is more beautiful than many 5 star resorts. But the service is closer to Motel 6 on the night shift! The only reason I give them 2 stars I hate to do it to a favorite place of ours.We won't be back but if you want a gorgeous place to go with a fabulous golf course and beautiful friendly community and marina and you can ignore terrible service then this is your place.I can't explain why some reviews are so good. Maybe their expectations are lower, or something but all in our group had the same low level of service.
