I spent a 1/2 hour on phone w/a wyndham rewards rep in order to use my rewards points for our stay 2/28-3/02/2013. 1st hotel didn't have someone available to finish the confirmation of using the points,(she was at lunch)? had to call back & go through it all again with a new rewards rep. who was no where near as courteous as the first rep, told her never mind i would handle on my own as she couldn't get me back to the square i was at with the 1st rep. (2nd rep was unwilling to phone the hotel to speak direct with them). So I called the hotel direct to get to the bottom of things. Once I spoke with the girl who had been @ lunch & verified they did not have the rooms I asked to be transferred to the wyndham agent again & we worked to find a different hotel i could use in the area. This call took 59 minutes to complete my reservation. albeit, i did used 10 minutes of that time buying more rewards points as this hotel required a larger number. The agent was wonderful & i wish i could recall her name as i think she deserves praise for her high level of customer service. She also stayed on the phone with me until my confirmation email arrived for my booking. At this point i never gave it another thought until we arrived at the hotel & they said they had no such reservation in our name nor under the confirmation number in my email.. the front desk clerk suggested that maybe I had come to the WRONG HOTEL!! I assured her i WANTED to stay at the wyndham orange co. not the Irvine hotel, but it was not available & that my reservation was with Irvine. several minutes passed as she helped another customer while i looked for more proof of my reservation with them. what a joke. i became very agitated at this point & the clerk beckoned the on duty mgr. Ahmed who as i explained it all to him again & he saw my frustration, AGREED with me to be upset & said he would be the same way. (he utilizes customer service 101 well). Ahmed took over & within a few minutes we had a room which included access to the happy hour lounge for a much needed refreshment!! I THANK YOU AHMED. but i certainly have yet to understand how i can receive a reservation confirmation yet the hotel has no record!?!?! They had no problem depleting my wyndham points for the unknown reservation! I would really like to advise everyone booking with wyndham to CALL TO VERIFY!!!!! Oh & the filet mignon & rib eye in hotel restaurant were the least flavorful steak we have ever had! booo
