Providence is nicknamed the Renaissance City, and it's for good reason. Both Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design have excellent museums that are worth visiting. Or step back in time and visit some breathtaking mansions along the coast in Newport. These luxurious estates were once the summer homes of some of the most famous families in America. When ready for a night of entertainment, the Dunkin Donuts Center features great live performances of music, comedy and more. For something truly adventurous, the hiking and biking trails along the sprawling India Point Park are wonderful for exploring. Perhaps best of all, this 80,000-square-foot park is right outside this Providence hotel's door. With exhibits as varied as Marco Polo Trail, Austrailasia, and the Fabric of Africa, the whole family will want to visit the Roger Williams Park and Zoo. To experience a different kind of fun, the grown-ups should check out the Twin River Casino in nearby Lincoln.
