“Somewhat Disappointing”

  , Los Angeles, California, Usa
I was a Matron of Honor in a wedding reception that took place here. The coordinator that helped my friend plan the wedding was amazing. We were very happy with her. One of the wedding guests had a food allergy that was explained to the coordinator ahead of time. They promised a special meal for that guest. When food service came out, they gave her the regular meal and we had to ask them to take it back. The server barely spoke English and was rude. I had a hard time explaining to the service staff to bring the special meal to this guest. I don't think they really understood me and they didn't seem too be trying very hard. Later, when we asked the server if plain Balsamic Vinegar and Oil were available for this guest's salad (as the provided dressings contained the food the guest was allergic to) the server responded, "I don't know...I don't think so." There was no offer to check in the back. I had to ask a manager and they did provide it. Once the food came, we had to ask two different people to verify if it was the special meal as the servers who delivered it didn't know and would just say, "I think so but I'm not sure."The next morning we had breakfast in the restaurant at the buffet. When the server came to our table, and we asked for coffee she told us she would bring it to us but that we were supposed to get up, walk back through the lobby to the continental breakfast and get it ourselves. What is the point of breakfast in a "restaurant" setting if you cannot order coffee and expect it to delivered, especially when you are paying for it. The waitress also acted rude, I think she thought she was being funny but it was just confusing. The morning before we were checking out, there was a power outage in the hotel. We did not have any electricity at all. We opened our door and found other travelers wandering the halls (in the dark except for emergency lighting" trying to figure out what was going on. We were of course, unable to call the front desk as the phone was down and the guest in the hall was trying to call from his cell phone but it was just ringing busy. I was expecting someone to come up and check on us or something but that didn't happen. I had to take a shower in almost total darkness and get ready for my day with just the light from the window. I couldn't do my hair, had to leave with it wet. Staff did not apologize at all for inconvenience. I asked for a phone call to speak about it and no one ever called me.
