“Memorable honeymoon stay”

  , Houston
Our room was impressive, gorgeous-like something out of a movie. We sprung for a night in the hibiscus suite for our honeymoon. It was an absolutely beautiful room. The bed and pillows were so luxurious! The staff were pleasant enough and we were surprised with chocolate covered strawberries and champagne when we returned from a trip out. We could normally not afford a room like this, but it was fun to act for the weekend like we belonged there. There was a slight odor to the room in the living area. My husband said it smelled like faint wet dog. It wasn't overwhelming and we joked that maybe it was a ghost dog since the history hints the hotel is haunted (for the record, we saw no evidence of such). We did order breakfast from room service. The food was good, but fell short of my expectations. I had the frittata and it came with a side of fresh fruit, but I had to order toast ala carte and they were out of croissants. Unfortunately, we didn't get to look around the entire premises but upon venturing out in the evening, there was a woman playing piano in the lobby between the bar and restaurant. I really enjoyed that. Overall, I would say it was a dream honeymoon suite, but I wouldn't spend that much money unless it was a very special occasion.
