“Great new & reasonable-priced hotel in Lower Manhattan”

  , Pasadena
I had the pleasure of staying at the Wyndham Garden in Chinatown this past May 2013. I was visiting New York with my parents for my sister's NYU graduation. You can imagine how expensive the hotels were for the last week of May (also happened to be Memorial Day Weekend) as all families descend into this small and incredibly city to attend the festivities. We went with this hotel given how close it was to my sister's apartment and NYU. After some extensive research, I found this new hotel and rates that were within reason, especially for a brand new hotel in NYC. I booked a two double beds room with limited view for a 4-night stay in late January. When we arrived at the hotel, there was a minor confusion on their system but the check-in person was about to clear it up for me. We were checked into Room 410. When we walked in, the room looked smaller than I had anticipated in comparison to the rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn Tribeca nearby. I wish the rooms were bigger as staying in such a room for 4 nights can be too cramped for 3 adults. Also, my parents drove me mad so the size of the room really didn't help as I wanted nothing but space. However, the room was super clean and modern especially the bathroom. The bathroom had a big sink counter with a sleek, floor-to-ceiling tiled shower with a glass partition. My only complaint is that this glass partition didn't do much as water got everywhere when I showered. On the first night, the floor was almost flooded after my dad showered. In terms of hotel service, the staff were superb! Every time we had a question or concern, they addressed immediately and followed up to see if there was anything else that they could do. I have to give them an A+ on this as I have never experience such wonderful service at a hotel. My parents even acknowledged this and they are rarely do. On one late afternoon we stayed in when it started pouring outside with isolated thunderstorms. When the storm got stronger, we were having trouble getting any television reception. We called front desk and they sent their engineer immediately to check. The engineer stopped by our room to let us know that the storm was interfering with their satellite dish but our reception should be back on it.In terms of the location, the hotel is located in the heart of Chinatown (not the best location) as the neighborhood was a bit rundown. In sum, I had a wonderful stay at Wyndham. I would considering staying here again. Thank you Wyndham Chinatown!
