“Good property and location but that's pretty much it - a screw up a day seems to be their motto!”

  , New Delhi
The good things first - location is great if you don't want to stay on the Asian side but avoid if you want to experience the old city (European side), property is nice and loved the interiors and the decor but make sure you go for a sea-facing room unless you want to just stare at some ordinary looking building from your window. Now, the bad - the list is exceptionally long if I compare to my experience with countless 5* hotels across the world (I travel extensively for business) but I will just highlight the experiences which shocked me:1) The check-in counter at noon had one lady on duty and it took her 20mins. before she even acknowledged our presence.2) The breakfast serves cold morning breads and pastries; after asking repeatedly for some warm croissants, we were served some burnt breads (taken from the buffet and popped in an oven for too long); one day we were told the juicer is broken and therefore they don't have fresh juice (buy 2 juicers - you're supposed to be a 5* property for god's sake).3) Room service refused to serve us water at 1am when we asked for complimentary water and vehemently argued that we were only entitled to only 2 tiny bottles a day; a big bottle of water costs 1TL at a supermarket across the road so this was just unimaginable for a property like this. If you want my money, just ask me - don't try lame excuses.4) In-room service menu is 1-page with very limited options.5) Indoor swimming room was closed for renovation without any prior notice or intimation; considering the outdoor pool closes at 7PM and guests would want to explore the city, this is highly sub-optimal.6) Room billing was incorrect at check-out and we were charged extra - good thing we were careful and asked them to fix which they did after pretending to be confused for a moment. No apologies for the mistake on their part of course.7) Overall service levels are quite poor - except for the manager who apologized for the water incident the next morning, the concierge staff and a certain restaurant waiter whose name I sadly forgot to take, almost every other interaction was disappointing. There are enough good 5* options you can spend your good money on when you travel; this was my first and last experience with a Wyndham (or related) property.
