Basílica Menor de Nuestra Señora del Valle (Basilica of Our Lady of the Valley)
As the patron saint of eastern Venezuela and the navy of Venezuela, the namesake of this cathedral - the Virgen del Valle - has a beautiful, neo-Gothic cathedral built in her honor, located in El Valle, and the heart and soul of the festivities in early September that pay her homage.

Castillo San Carlos de Borromeo (San Carlos de Borromeo Fortress)
Built in 1684 from coral stone with the purpose of protecting the people of the island from pirates, this fortress is the most important colonial fortresses on Isla Margarita and today stands as a museum which includes paintings of heroes of the War of Independence - including the Battle of Matasiete - old weapons, and a replica of Christopher Columbus' boat, the Santa Maria.

Fortín de la Galera
This fort - built in 1811 by order of the patriotic Board of Margarita - has borne witness to some of the bloodiest battles in the island's history and today, visitors flock to this site for the incredible views of where La Galera and Juan Griego Bays meet and the breathtaking sunsets over the Caribbean.

Laguna de La Restinga (La Restinga National Park)
A national park classified as an Important Bird Area, one of the most popular attractions on Isla Margarita is a stunning national park with a large salt lagoon, rich in fish and bird life including mangroves, oysters and sea horses and is just minutes from the Wyndham Isla Margarita Concorde hotel.

Santa Rosa de la Eminencia (Santa Rosa Castle)
Located on a hill overlooking the city of La Asuncíon, this colonial fort was built in 1680 by the Spaniards to protect against the pirates of the Caribbean, was declared a national monument in 1965 and is approximately 14 kilometres from the Wyndham Isla Margarita Concorde hotel.
